38 weeks with Cheney

How far along?: 38 weeks. hmmm, could this be the last baby bump post??! I keep wondering if she will decide to come a little bit before our scheduled date. I must say, I wouldn't hate it if she did!

How big is your baby?: a watermelon. a large, kicking watermelon.

Total weight gain: up 18lbs total

Sex: sweet baby GIRL--Cheney Katherine

Maternity clothes: same old story. yoga capris & maxi skirts are my best friends. I can't wait to wear real clothes again!!!

Sleep: The night after Griffin's party I slept a solid 8 hours and it was GLORIOUS. I don't remember the last time I wasn't just awake for a few hours in the middle of the night. It's hard to get comfortable and our room is just so hot.

Symptoms: Heart burn late at night, lots of pressure, the ginormous baby trying to claw her way out....that's a symptom, right?!

Movement: I am thinking that I am growing a very tough little girl. She is already stronger than her brothers were in the womb. Her movements are painful. I think she will do just fine with 2 big brothers!

Best moment this week: We celebrated Griff's 2nd birthday! We also finished up all the last minute details: washed pump parts & a couple bottles, installed the carseat, & my bag is pretty much packed! Little girl, we are ready!

Food cravings: Food is so blah to me right now. I am basically eating for survival.

Belly button in or out: Out.

Labor Signs: random pains that I often wonder are true contractions. I have no recollection of contractions since they gave me Ambien before my labor truly began with Grayson. I don't think I am getting checked again so I have no idea if C has made any progress. I sure do feel like she wants to come out!

What I miss: Being comfortable & having energy. I am feeling bad for my boys right now because I am just so zapped all the time. I am glad they have each other to play with!

What I'm looking forward to: celebrating Griffin's actual birthday tomorrow and meeting this sweet baby girl SOON!

So, this 3rd pregnancy is funny. The whole 9 months have been different than my other two pregnancies. At this point with Griffin, I was not trying to make him arrive. I was all about sticking to his scheduled birthday.  I also wasn't this uncomfortable. I am actually kind of hoping that Cheney comes a couple days early...for my own comfort AND because it would actually help with Ben's new work schedule. We'll see. I'm sure she will wait until her planned birthday next week!

We have also been making guesses on how big she will be. My doctor guessed last week that based on my size, she wouldn't be as big as Grayson (9lbs1oz). Griffin was only 7lbs5oz so it really could go either way! So, our family has made our guesses:

Me: 7lbs 8oz
Ben: 7lbs 6oz
Grayson: He said "69 8" so I lovingly changed it to 6lbs 9 oz:)
Griffin: He just said that she would be smaller than him. haha

We will see who is closest in a week or less!

37 weeks with Cheney

How far along?: 37 weeks--hello, full term!!

How big is your baby?: a watermelon. She feels about the size of a watermelon, too.

Total weight gain: holding steady around 18lbs! I actually lost almost a whole pound last week. I almost fist bumped the nurse I was so excited.

Sex: sweet baby GIRL--Cheney Katherine

Maternity clothes: I literally have about 3 outfits that I rotate. Shirts are getting too short & capris are getting too hot.

Sleep: I am thinking I will sleep better when the baby is actually on the outside. I am just so uncomfortable & hot. I'm too the point where she feels like she is clawing her way out & that there is a cinder block on my chest.

Symptoms: With this week came the AWFUL heart burn. It was really bad with Grayson and is about the same now with Cheney. Middle of the night is the worst.  I'm also feeling so much pressure. So. Much. Pressure.

Movement: Well, we are running out of room & girl loves to move. I have been really lopsided lately as she flips around. She is SO STRONG.

Best moment this week: The nursery is COMPLETE!! Bassinet & changing area has been set up in our bedroom. My bag is kind of packed minus things I still need out. Just need to install a carseat and we are ready!!

Food cravings: Literally all I still want is watermelon. I have zero appetite.

Belly button in or out: Out.

Labor Signs: still having contractions here and there but nothing consistent. Won't get "checked" again until 38 weeks. It's all a waiting game at this point to see if she sticks to her schedule & let's face it: girls are rarely early.

What I miss: I hate to say this but I am going to say it...I am so ready to NOT be pregnant and actually get to hold this sweet baby. 3rd pregnancy is no joke. I'm pretty miserable.

What I'm looking forward to: Griffy's birthday party is on Saturday! So excited to see his face when he realizes we will have a bounce house at our house for him!

7.16.2014

36 weeks with Cheney

How far along?: 36 weeks

How big is your baby?: the size of a cantaloupe. In other words: BIG.

Total weight gain: up 18lbs total

Sex: sweet baby GIRL--Cheney Katherine

Maternity clothes: I am dreaming of having a waistline again and wearing normal clothes!

Sleep: I AM SO HOT. We have two tower fans, the air is on 68, & the overhead fan is on...yet I still wake up sweating. I'm just to the point that I can't get very comfortable so I am not sleeping well.

Symptoms: Back pain here & there...thankful that it hasn't been constant!

Movement: She is still moving a ton despite running out of room! I really feel her jump around when one of the boys is on my lap and when I lay on my side.

Best moment this week: Just spending time with my little boys. I am so ready to not be pregnant but I also know it will never be just the boys again.  I had a day date with Grayson on Saturday afternoon & we went to pick blueberries on a farm yesterday!

Food cravings: Watermelon. Ice cold watermelon. I have no appetite for real food & really no room to store it!

Belly button in or out: Out.

Labor Signs: sporadic contractions when I do too much, not dilated at all, cervix has softened! So curious if this girl will stick to our schedule or come on her own!

What I miss: Walking up the stairs and not feeling like I am going to die.

What I'm looking forward to: We just have one more thing to add to the nursery & then it will be complete! Hoping for a good mail day some time this week!

7.08.2014

35 weeks with Cheney

How far along?: 35 weeks...we are officially at the LESS than a month countdown!

How big is your baby?: the size of a cantaloupe. Roughly 5lbs! I'm starting to get so curious about how big she will be!

Total weight gain: up 16lbs total

Sex: sweet baby GIRL--Cheney Katherine

Maternity clothes: Skirts & my Old Navy workout capris are my favorite right now because they don't have the annoyingly hot spandex panel.

Sleep: We are sleeping through the night. ALL THE PEOPLE SAID "AMEN!" But, seriously, sleep is a beautiful thing. Let's pretend that I don't have to have a fan blowing inches away from me & I don't toss and turn all night from hip/back pain.

Symptoms: holy moly!! I had my first awful bout of sciatic nerve pain for a few days this week. OUCH. Thankfully Miss C seems to have shifted because it hurt so bad to move. Movement is pretty key when taking care of small children. So thankful my back feels better!

Movement: I think she has been practicing her high kicks. She has some super strong movements! Grayson & Griffin had fun feeling her shake around the other day before naps while we were reading books.

Best moment this week: The nursery is THIS CLOSE to being ready. I have to get some things hung on the walls & finish washing a few things, but otherwise it is ready! Every time I see that big pink monogram on the wall I get giddy.

Food cravings: Watermelon still & really just fresh fruit. I am not really hungry for real food other than fruit. Drinking tons of water, too.

Belly button in or out: Out. Womp, womp, womp.

Labor Signs: LOTS of Braxton Hicks contractions. My stomach has been rock hard a lot.

What I miss: I am so, so ready for regular clothes that fit.

What I'm looking forward to: Having the nursery DONE & prepping for Griff's 2nd birthday!

7.02.2014

34 weeks with Cheney

How far along?: 34 weeks--only FIVE weeks to go! ahh!!

How big is your baby?: the size of a pineapple. I believe it. This girl is running out of room in my stomach.

Total weight gain: up 16lbs total

Sex: sweet baby GIRL--Cheney Katherine

Maternity clothes: I wear real-ish clothes outside but strip down to comfy shorts and tanks as soon we come inside. It is SO HOT and that maternity panel on my clothes is not my friend.  I can't wait to be in regular clothes again!

Sleep: On the Griffin end? SO MUCH BETTER.  He is finally back to sleeping through the night. He's waking up at the crack of dawn (5:15ish) but we are working on that.  I am having to get up at least once a night to go to the bathroom & sometimes I can't fall back asleep. I loathe pregnancy insomnia.

Symptoms: lower back pain. I don't remember having that with either of our boys.

Movement: I suddenly feel like there is an alien inside. Cheney's movements are crazy! I can see a lot of it from the outside and I can feel certain limbs when they poke out. It's so crazy.

Best moment this week: The armoire is officially finished & has glass knobs! I also got the monogram painted pink & we just need to hang it. Curtains were hung by the handy husband, too! Nursery is coming right along!

Food cravings: GIVE ME ALL THE WATERMELON. But, seriously. I am averaging about three whole watermelons a week. It is a little out of control.

Belly button in or out: almost out...but not quite. This is my longest stretch during a pregnancy without a belly button sticking out!

Labor Signs: She feels consistently lower each week. I am starting to feel pressure down there like I did with Griff. Also having lots of Braxton Hicks contractions. I'm sure those are from chasing these busy boys around all day!

What I miss: regular clothes!!!

What I'm looking forward to: Finishing the nursery!

6.25.2014

33 weeks with Cheney

How far along?: 33 weeks

How big is your baby?: the size of a honeydew melon. DO YOU KNOW HOW BIG THOSE ARE?! It looks like I swallowed a whole entire honeydew melon.

Total weight gain: up 14lbs total

Sex: sweet baby GIRL--Cheney Katherine

Maternity clothes: I am rotating between yoga capris, tank tops, & 3 maxi skirts on a regular basis. Lots of maternity shirts are getting a little too short. Not sure how I will get dressed over the next 6 weeks!

Sleep: Um, we have a certain tiny toddler who wakes up every.single.night around 3am. Not naming any names.........BUT, I'm certain he's trying to kill me via sleep deprivation.

Symptoms: Fingers are a little swollen and I am having a lot more Braxton Hicks contractions lately.

Movement: This girl is growing & strong. I can now feel certain body parts sticking really far out of my stomach and she definitely prefers to lay (and kick around) on my right side. She moves a lot during the day & right when I lay down at night.

Best moment this week: I turned 29 and got to eat a delicious Double Doozie cookie. It's my traditional birthday treat and worth every single calorie. We also got some more fun mail--monthly stickers & some sweet headbands!

Food cravings: Watermelon & frozen grapes. That is really all I want!

Belly button in or out: Still not all the way out, thank the Lord!

Labor Signs: Braxton Hicks contractions are happening more frequently & I feel like she just keeps getting lower. If I squat down, it feels like she may fall out. Let's hope that isn't the case!

What I miss: Sleeping all night long.

What I'm looking forward to: I go to the doctor this afternoon & start my every 2 week appointments. That means we are getting so close to meeting our baby!

6.18.2014

32 weeks with Cheney

How far along?: 32 weeks. 8 months. Feeling every bit of that!

How big is your baby?: the size of a head of lettuce--almost 4lbs!

Total weight gain: up 14lbs total

Sex: sweet baby GIRL--Cheney Katherine

Maternity clothes: I am now to the point that even my maternity shirts are getting too short. Yippee.

Sleep: I can't get comfortable for the life of me. Sleep has improved some due to Griffin. Here's to hoping it keeps getting better!

Symptoms: Fingers are starting to swell when I'm hot...considering it is June in Tennessee, I have sadly retired my rings. I'm having some Braxton Hicks contractions but that is about it!

Movement: I love all these movements. She moves a lot during the day now & not as much at night. I will be interested to see if her sleep patterns on the outside are like this at all. Griffin was SUPER active late at night & he is still not a great sleeper. Haha, coincidence?!

Best moment this week: The big ol' nursery monogram arrived & just needs to be painted. I love it! We've also had lots of fun summer days at the pool recently. I am trying to suck up the miserable pregnant feeling & have some fun with our boys before their baby sister arrives!

Food cravings: Watermelon & frozen grapes. That is really all I want!

Belly button in or out: It's almost out but not quite.

What I miss: Grocery shopping and not being gawked at. I honestly think many people feel sorry for me when they see me out with the boys AND they see my giant belly. I get lots of comments about having my hands full. People at Publix were staring at me today as if they thought I would literally drop a baby out in the middle of the store.

What I'm looking forward to: Getting things done this weekend--washing baby clothes, painting the monogram, putting glass knobs on the armoire. Lots to do!

6.17.2014

Content.

This is probably just going to be me rambling a lot. I'll apologize in advance. I'm a person that is constantly looking ahead. What's our next step in life? In recent years those thoughts have centered around babies. When we had Griffin we knew he wasn't our last. We knew that, God-willing, there would be at least 1 more baby eventually added to the May clan.  I just never thought twice about it. I was actually worried that I would never feel done. I love me some babies and I was afraid that I would always have a sadness about never having any more kids.  What if I never truly felt like our family was complete?

I can honestly say that my heart has changed with this pregnancy. This baby girl will be the one that completes our family & I am totally okay with that. I have such a peace about Cheney being the last baby we ever have. It's a weird feeling knowing this is my last pregnancy. The last time I will ever be huge, uncomfortable, & 8 months pregnant. I won't necessarily miss the huge & uncomfortable part, but I will miss never feeling these strong kicks again. It's all kind of bittersweet. I will say, it's been nice giving away my maternity clothes that I know I won't need anymore. Ever again:)

I'm just happy to be feeling content at this stage in life. Content with who we are as a family.
I'm trying hard to soak this pregnancy up. It's definitely been my hardest & I'm convinced that Cheney will be quite the princess with all she has already put me through. Ha! We are ready to meet this baby girl & become our official Party of Five!

6.11.2014

31 weeks with Cheney

How far along?: 31 weeks

How big is your baby?: the size of a pineapple. I believe it! She feels big. Her movements are starting to hurt!

Total weight gain: up 10lbs as of my last visit. I go back this morning!

Sex: sweet baby GIRL--Cheney Katherine

Maternity clothes: I am currently dreaming of regular clothes!!!!

Sleep: WELL, I should let you ask our Tiny Toddler. He was sleeping better until I took him to Georgia. Now we are back to square one. He woke up THREE times last night. Who does he think he is....a newborn?!

Symptoms: Braxton Hicks contractions & a lot more pressure the past couple of days. Sister is feeling low.

Movement: Like I said above, her movements are starting to hurt! She is a strong little girl!

Best moment this week: Grayson had his first tee ball game & we had so much fun watching him play! I am also slowly starting to organize Cheney's nursery. I need to start washing clothes!

Food cravings: Fresh fruit! I can't get enough. I've been inhaling watermelon, blueberries, mango, & frozen grapes.

Belly button in or out: I feel as if it will pop out any day now.

What I miss: I told Ben that I expect a Blue Moon to be in our fridge when I get home from the hospital. Does that tell you anything?

What I'm looking forward to: Fun mail arriving...C's giant wooden monogram for above her crib should be here any day!

6.04.2014

30 weeks with Cheney

How far along?: 30 weeks. HOLY COW. I can't believe we are already to this point!

How big is your baby?: the size of a butternut squash (roughly 3lbs!)

Total weight gain: up 10lbs total (I'm sure that's changed...I go back next week!)

Sex: sweet baby GIRL--Cheney Katherine

Maternity clothes: yes. the spandex panel on certain capris are going to kill me. IT IS SO HOT. You would think I would be used to this since it is my third summer pregnancy, right?!

Sleep: Starting to get up every night just to go to the bathroom. Griffin seems to have turned a corner in the sleep department & is doing a little better! Therefore, the whole family is sleeping better!

Symptoms: Considering how far along I am and how hot it is, I am feeling pretty good! I'm sore at the end of the day & I feel like I am constantly out of breath. Other than that, feeling good!

Movement: This girl is flipping around constantly. She's big enough now that some of her movements make me a little uncomfortable. I can't wait to see how active she is on the outside!

Best moment this week: Just good ol' summer time fun! We've played at the pool with friends & spent all of our days outside. I am trying my hardest to soak up my time with just my baby boys before Cheney arrives!

Food cravings: I want ALL THE WATERMELON. Only problem is I have yet to find a whole watermelon at our grocery stores!! All they have right now are the pre-cut containers that cost a fortune. I need a whole watermelon, stat.

Belly button in or out: we are to the flat stage. (hooray. at least it isn't out yet!)

What I miss: non-maternity clothes. especially bathing suits.

What I'm looking forward to: The boys have VBS for 3 days next week from 9-1:00 and I am just a tad excited to have a few days of alone time!

5.28.2014

29 weeks with Cheney

How far along?: 29 weeks...TEN weeks left!

How big is your baby?: the size of a small cabbage

Total weight gain: up 10lbs total

Sex: sweet baby GIRL--Cheney Katherine

Maternity clothes: I got to wear my maternity bathing suit this week. I know you're jealous.

Sleep: oooohhhh sleep. Story of our life, that depends on Griffin.

Symptoms: I've actually been feeling pretty good this week! Ben makes fun of me because if I walk more than 8 steps I am completely out of breath. Going up our stairs wipes me out. Isn't that pitiful??

Movement: She moves all the time! Grayson actually felt her for the first time on Sunday at church. I love baby kicks so much. It's such an amazing feeling!

Best moment this week: Cheney has a room! I repeat, Cheney has a ROOM! We painted it the perfect shade of gray over the long weekend and I even refinished an armoire for the nursery. SO, the walls are painted, furniture is in place, and her bedding is actually in the crib. Now, to decorate! Oh, and in even bigger news: Ben started his NEW job! More on that later this week:)

Food cravings: watermelon! Griff and I accidentally ate half a watermelon for lunch on Monday. oops.

Belly button in or out: we are to the flat stage.

What I miss: a Blue Moon. I do miss those.

What I'm looking forward to: Organizing all the baby clothes we have & decorating her room. We have some fun things arriving in the mail in the next couple of weeks!

5.21.2014

28 weeks with Cheney

How far along?: 28 weeks--3rd trimester! Home stretch!

How big is your baby?: the size of an eggplant

Total weight gain: up 10lbs total

Sex: sweet baby GIRL--Cheney Katherine

Maternity clothes: we are approaching pool season and I dread a combo of maternity bathing suits & horrid varicose veins.

Sleep: Waking up to go to the bathroom. Waking up because of hip pain. Waking up because Griffin can't quite get used to sharing room with his big "bubba." Sleeping in between!

Symptoms: The pulled muscle is ALL better! Hallelujah! Still just dealing with the painful veins. I have learned this week the hard way that if I don't make myself sit more throughout the day, my leg will be throbbing by dinner time.

Movement: I love watching this girl move! I can tell she is growing because her movements are so much stronger.

Best moment this week: The boys are now officially sharing a room! I took all the boy crib bedding down & we will set up C's crib this weekend. Griffin is doing better than I thought he would. He wants me to lay with him until he falls asleep which is not a habit I wanted to start. But, I know he will adjust eventually. Let's just hope it is before his sister is born!

Food cravings: watermelon!

Belly button in or out: um, in between?

What I miss: A normal feeling leg

What I'm looking forward to: we are painting Cheney's nursery this weekend! I can't wait to officially start her room!

5.14.2014

27 weeks with Cheney

The above picture was taken at 26 weeks while in Disney!
Isn't it crazy how much a baby belly can change in a week?! I feel like the whole shape is different now!

How far along?: 27 weeks

How big is your baby?: the size of a cucumber (finally about 2lbs!)

Total weight gain: up 10lbs total

Sex: sweet baby GIRL--Cheney Katherine

Maternity clothes: my favorites are the Michael Stars tanks (like above) because they are super comfy! I've basically been only wearing workout capris & maxi skirts.

Sleep: I officially feel like I am 97 weeks pregnant. Or 97 years old. Either way, it's rough. Sleep has been rough.

Symptoms: My varicose veins are still hurting pretty badly. They are awful on the back of my right leg so it just hurts when I sit on something hard and when I stand up. I also pulled a groin muscle from all the Disney walking. I could barely walk on Sunday & it is slowly getting better. That is making sleep difficult because it hurts to lay on my side. I'll most likely be a gimp for another week or two!

Movement: Her movements have gotten so much stronger! I can really feel when she is flipping around & can see it a lot from the outside. This is by far my favorite part of pregnancy!

Best moment this week: DISNEY WORLD! We had so much fun on our trip. I am already excited about going back! All the walking combined with the heat was rough on me, but I survived! I wish I knew how many miles we walked last week! Also, we scheduled Cheney's actual birthday yesterday at my appointment! 12 more weeks until we meet our girl!

Food cravings: ice water & that's about it!

Belly button in or out: in but starting to flatten. Womp, womp, womp...

What I miss: Normal veins & a hip that doesn't feel like it is completely dislocated. Haha! See? I am an old lady!

What I'm looking forward to: G is finishing up school next Tuesday and I am looking forward to having a more relaxed schedule. It will also be the time when we try to move Griffin into his twin bed in their shared bedroom!

4.30.2014

25 weeks with Cheney

How far along?: 25 weeks

How big is your baby?: the size of an eggplant

Total weight gain: up 7lbs total

Sex: sweet baby GIRL--Cheney Katherine

Maternity clothes: of course. I am living in my Old Navy active maternity capris & maxi skirts. All about comfort these days!

Sleep: Not too bad. I have been taking Benadryl because of allergies so sleep has been pretty good!

Symptoms: My allergies are OUT OF CONTROL. Other than that, I feel so much better. So thankful since we are going to Disney next week!

Movement: Cheney is such a wiggle worm!! Every time I get still and lay down, she starts going crazy. I feel like she has been flipping around lately. I've tried to let Grayson feel her kicks, but he won't sit still long enough. Typical t3 year old boy:)

Best moment this week: The boys got their new beds and they look awesome! Now if we could only get the tiny toddler to sleep in his we would be all set! Oh, and this time next week we will be in Disney World!!

Food cravings: Ice cold lemon water & fresh fruit!

Belly button in or out: in but starting to flatten. Womp, womp, womp...

What I miss: Right now the only thing I really miss is being able to take any medicine I want. I have been coughing up a storm and there is not much a pregnant gal can take for that.

What I'm looking forward to: Heading to Orlando on Monday morning! The boys are super excited about flying on an airplane & meeting Mickey Mouse and the rest of the gang. It is going to be so much fun!

4.23.2014

24 weeks with Cheney

How far along?: 24 weeks

How big is your baby?: the size of an ear of corn

Total weight gain: up 7lbs total

Sex: sweet baby GIRL--Cheney Katherine

Maternity clothes: yes. Loving my new Old Navy yoga capris! I stocked up for Disney World & they are so comfy!

Sleep: I've been sleeping okay. I toss & turn a lot but that's just because my hips are hurting. Just part of it!

Symptoms: Other than the vein being uncomfortable, I am feeling so much better this week. I got a new prescription for Zofran last week and it made a huge difference. I actually haven't needed it this week. My appetite is back, no contractions...so much better!

Movement: Lots of movement! She moves around the most late at night. As soon as I am laying down I feel like she starts flipping around. Grayson is really looking forward to being able to feel her move soon!

Best moment this week: I finally got my haircut and colored and it was a glorious (and quiet) 2 1/2 hours! We also switched Griffin to a toddler bed yesterday before his nap. He went to sleep like it was no big deal yesterday. I am hoping that trend continues & he will move in to Grayson's room soon!

Food cravings: Lemon water and fresh fruit. Those are the only things that sound good!

Belly button in or out: in.

What I miss: Nothing really. Enjoying it now that I am no longer feeling awful. Hope that continues!

What I'm looking forward to: our trip to Disney World in less than TWO weeks! I am getting so excited!

4.16.2014

23 weeks with Cheney

How far along?: 23 weeks & feeling about a gazillion weeks

How big is your baby?: the size of a papaya (about 1.2lbs now!)

Total weight gain: up 7lbs total

Sex: sweet baby GIRL--Cheney Katherine

Maternity clothes: yes, yes, & yes.

Sleep: I think it is time to invest in a good pregnancy body pillow. Any recommendations? I am super uncomfortable at night. Like I said above, I feel a gazillion weeks pregnant.

Symptoms: Lots of back pain this week. The vein in the back of my leg feels like it may explode. BUT? I have been drinking TONS of water and have only had one afternoon over the last week where I had contraction-like cramps. So that is a major plus!

Movement: Baby girl is a mover & a shaker....but mostly at night. I can tell she is getting stronger because her movements are getting much stronger. I can feel it from the outside now!

Best moment this week: We've been graciously given lots of baby girl clothes from friends & I think we are literally set for the first 6 months. Cheney's closet just keeps on growing!

Food cravings: I have zero appetite. It's so weird. I feel like I have entered back into the first 6 weeks. Nothing sounds good to me lately!

Belly button in or out: in.

What I miss: having some energy! This girl is sucking the life right out of me. I am so exhausted all the time.

What I'm looking forward to: Easter weekend with my family & getting this LONG hair chopped next week!

Let's discuss this pregnancy for a bit. Maybe it is because it's my 3rd pregnancy or maybe it is more about the fact that it is my 3rd pregnancy in 4 years, but I am suddenly feeling SO VERY PREGNANT. I feel like my body is revolting against me. I mean, I have put it through a bunch over the last several years. I can't even imagine what I will feel like all summer long.  I can't wait to meet this sweet baby girl, but geez, it's rough this time around! How did Michelle Duggar do it 19 times?!?!

4.09.2014

22 weeks with Cheney

How far along?: 22 weeks

How big is your baby?: the size of a spaghetti squash--finally about 1lb!

Total weight gain: up 7lbs total

Sex: sweet baby GIRL--Cheney Katherine

Maternity clothes: Yes, living in comfy clothes for the most part! I had to go to Motherhood Maternity the other day to buy the dreaded compression hose (blech) & actually stumbled upon a really fun & comfy maxi skirt! Their dresses & skirts are also Buy 1/Get 1 half off right now!
Secret Fit Belly(r) Relaxed Maternity Skirt

Sleep: I've been having lots of stomach pains over the past week. Really bad cramping & a uncooperative Griffin have made are nights less than desirable. Hopefully that will change soon!

Symptoms: A horrible varicose vein on the back of my right leg. I mean, AWFUL. The OB actually gasped when she saw it on Monday & said it looked really bad considering I am not even in my 3rd trimester. She told me to wear compression hose & that it would most likely be a surgical fix. Lovely! Also, ever since last Wednesday I have been having really bad stomach cramps. Some are just a little uncomfortable & some hurt so bad that they stop me in my tracks. I had to get a cervical check on Monday (ouch)  & she was surprised to feel that my cervix has already softened. However, thankfully I am not dilated at all and my cervix is measuring correctly. I will drinking a LOT more water and resting more when I can!

Movement: Yes--baby girl is moving around a bunch! Last night while I was trying to fall back asleep I could finally feel her movements from the outside. I love that feeling so much. Makes it very real!

Best moment this week: Our good friends (and neighbors!), Jon & Amy, welcomed their baby boy, Ellis on Monday afternoon! We went to the hospital yesterday and I got to hold that tiny boy. I can't wait to hold my own baby in August!

Food cravings: Now that the weather is warming up, I am wanting lots of fresh fruit! I devoured half a tub of strawberries the other night. I have also been wanting water but only with a lot of lemon!

Belly button in or out: in.

What I miss:  I am ready to just not have these stomach pains anymore! It's hard to take care of 2 active boys when I don't feel great.

What I'm looking forward to: Getting started on our nursery...that has to wait until Griffin isn't sleeping in there:)

During my cervical ultrasound yesterday I talked the tech into giving me one last peek at our baby girl. I am so glad I did; we finally got a good profile shot! Cheney was waving her arms all around & looked very chatty. I can't wait to meet our sweet girl!

21 weeks with Cheney

How far along?: 21 weeks

How big is your baby?: the size of a small cantaloupe! That seems big!

Total weight gain: up 4lbs as of my last appointment--find out again next Monday!

Sex: sweet baby GIRL!

Maternity clothes: obviously! I just bought a bunch of work out capris & maxi skirts yesterday. This will be the summer of comfort!

Sleep: I am still sleeping pretty good other than having to switch sides all night because my hips hurt.

Symptoms: WELL, that's interesting. I was shaving my legs last week and nearly had a panic attack because a vein on the back of my right leg is OUT OF CONTROL huge. Not just a spider vein, but sister girl must be sitting on a vessel and this vein looks like it may explode. It's so bad I will not be wearing shorts this summer in the 110 degree heat...that's serious, y'all. Not only is it hideous but now it's uncomfortable. I'll be asking the OB about it on Monday.

Movement: yes! This past week I finally felt some very tiny flutters. I was actually painting my nails yesterday and felt a bunch of consistent kicks. I will never get over that feeling--it's just the best!

Best moment this week: I brought home a lot of sweet baby girl clothes from Louisiana this week! Very thankful for cousins who pass down their baby clothes! We also got the bedding yesterday! I went with something very simple & I can't wait to get started on the nursery soon.

Food cravings: nothing new!

Belly button in or out: in.

What I miss: normal veins?? haha

What I'm looking forward to: The boys bedroom has been switched but we haven't moved Griff in yet. I am ready to get it over with...just hope it is an easy transition!

20 weeks with Cheney

How far along?: 20 weeks

How big is your baby?: the size of a mango (she weighed 11oz today--54th percentile!)

Total weight gain: up 4lbs as of my last appointment

Sex: a baby GIRL!

Maternity clothes: yes. of course. so tired of them.

Sleep: still sleeping good! (besides the nights when the boys are up randomly-ha!)

Symptoms: Having some hip pain at night when I sleep, but that's it!

Movement: I have an anterior placenta this time just like I did with Griffin. I didn't feel him until 22ish weeks. I think I may have felt a tiny flutter last night but I'm not sure. I can't wait to feel some definite kicks!

Best moment this week: we got 100% confirmation that our sweet baby is indeed a GIRL yesterday! I feel like I can breathe a sigh of relief now. Cheney was so stubborn so we got zero good face or profile shots of her. She made us work for almost 20 minutes just to get the gender shot!

Food cravings: nothing new. I am already starting to get really full, really fast. Everything is happening a lot sooner this time!

Belly button in or out: in.

What I miss: Nothing right now!

What I'm looking forward to: My mom, the boys, and I are driving to Baton Rouge on Thursday to spend a few days with family. My cousin is having her first baby shower & I can't wait to see everyone! It is also supposed to be sunny and 75 degrees while we are there...halleluah!!!!

3.19.2014

19 weeks with Cheney

How far along?: 19 weeks...one plus of a scheduled C-section is that I can say I am pretty much to the halfway point of this pregnancy! It is going by SO fast!

How big is your baby?: the size of a sweet potato

Total weight gain: up 4lbs

Sex: a baby GIRL!

Maternity clothes: yes, yes, yes. I keep thinking it is time to retire the jeans & then it gets cold again.

Sleep: Baby girl is letting me sleep just fine! However, baby boy Griff is not. He is getting over a double ear infection, has had a horrible diaper rash from his meds, & is starting to think it is cool to party in our room for a few hours every night. It's pretty much like having a newborn.

Symptoms: I am starting to get the hip pain from sleeping on my sides at night. That is starting a whole lot sooner this time around!

Movement: I don't think I felt Grayson move until about 23-24 weeks. I had an anterior placenta with Griffin and didn't feel any movement until 22 weeks. I keep hoping I will feel her soon but no luck so far! I love baby kicks!

Best moment this week: We were so productive this weekend! We have a lot to do before this baby arrives...including switching all 3 extra bedrooms in our house. We started over the weekend by cleaning out the attic, taking 2 car loads of stuff to Goodwill, & rearranging/organizing the closets. The boys now officially have a shared closet in their soon-to-be new room & Cheney has a closet in her soon-to-be nursery!

Food cravings: is food one? all the food?

Belly button in or out: in.

What I miss: in the midst of a double ear infection and diaper rash hell, I kinda sorta wish I could have a glass of wine.

What I'm looking forward to: we have our anatomy scan on Tuesday morning! I'm still paranoid that maybe perhaps Cheney is a boy...haha! Also, we will plan Cheney's official birthday (unless she comes early) at my next OB appointment!
