life as of lately

  • We made a successful transition into the dreaded Daylight Savings Time. Before kids, this time change is AWESOME. After kids? Usually it is frightening and means an extra early wake up. Grayson & Griffin actually did fine & I was pretty pumped that we didn't lose any more sleep than normal.
  • I've decided that the age of 2 reminds me slightly of bipolar disorder. Some moments these days I am sure that this stage will send me to the looney bin & other moments I want to freeze time and keep my 2 year old like this forever.  Despite the tantrums, we are at a really fun age right now. Grayson is talking so much & he says the funniest things! I really need to do another post on "Graysonisms."

  •  I am a straight up slacker right now with WW. Can I blame it on the fact that I'm sleepy? or lazy? I don't know. I'm trying really hard to track EVERYTHING but sometimes it is more fun to eat oreos. I also started the 30 day ab challenge last night.
  • It's election day, people.
I am SO READY for this election to be over. Have you voted?
 we did!
  • I am having a hard time comparing sleep patterns between the boys. Grayson started sleeping 12 hours a night right at 13 weeks. (we will pretend that he totally missed that AWFUL 4 month sleep regression 2 weeks later) Now, we did some sleep training. He was formula-fed *gasp* & we just slowly decreased the amount in his nighttime bottles. He weaned himself pretty easily and we got a full night of sleep! Griffin is different. He is so inconsistent. Sometimes he will sleep from 8pm-4am without needing to eat. Other nights he will be up at 1:00 & 4:00ish to eat. Griffin is now 14 weeks old and I am really contemplating some sort of sleep training. Also, I don't think I know anyone that has nursed a baby that has slept through the night. Please say it ain't so!! I need a success story. PLEASE.

At least I get to look at this smiley face in the middle of the night, right?!

I feel the SAME way about the daylight savings time! It's so hard to get them adjusted and it means that I have to start drinking even MORE gallons of coffee to be alert in the morning:)

I nursed Nolan until he was a year, and he was sleeping through the night pretty early on. I would suggest trying to rock Griffin at first when he wakes up and sees if he'll just go back to sleep. That's what I did, but if it was a growth spurt or something I might end up feeding him at like 4am and he would go back to sleep. But yes both boys of mine are breastfed and sleep through the night...it is possible :)

That's something I'm concerned with. I want to try harder to breastfeed Gabe when he comes, but I feel like breastfed babes (the stories I've heard) never sleep through the night. Ethan was amazing...he was sleeping through the nigh at 2.5 months old. I'm a liiiiittle worried.

I nurse Hayden and he started sleeping through the night at 12 weeks. We had a 2 week period of sleep regression and now he's back to sleeping through the night again. It IS possible! :)

Yes, bipolar 2 year olds!! Mercy, they're so sweet one moment and completely evil the next. And I'm so mad at myself for not keeping up more with Carsyn and her little sayings.

Hank is my consistent through the night sleeper. I thinks its because he doesn't nap much so its Gods way of keeping me sane ;)

Honestly, I think Griffin will be sleeping better really soon..and who wouldn't want to see that handsome face at 4 in the morning??

I nursed Landon until he was 7 months old. He was "sleeping through the night" by about 3 months old. I made sure he ate right before bed, and then as soon as we got up in the morning. I would feed him the last time around 10pm, and then he was up at5:30 or 6 to eat again. The trick with Landon was making sure his belly was nice and full before bed. But then, I didn't have to deal with reflux or anything with him, so I could lay him down as soon as he was done eating...

Cutie pie boys!

I nursed B and she slept through the night very young - with sleep regression interuptions of course. I found she slept best if I fed her a bottle of pumped milk just before bed. Then I knew her belly was full.

Good luck!

Nursing & Sleep: unfortunately when peebs was 14 weeks old, I did not take my besties advice when she told me to start sleep training. I waited until 9 months later when I was so sleep deprived I was a crazy woman to heed her advice. As my husband pointed out, what man is gonna choose sleep over boobies? NONE so you gotta let him CIO. ha and he was right! Good luck!
